A Unique Summer Camp
A Traditional But Unique Summer Camp
At Camp Quinebarge, we maintain the balance between tradition and innovation. Many of our activities – archery, woodworking, and hiking, among others – have been offered since our founding in 1936. Others – tubing, Gaga, a High Ropes course, and more – are among popular and more modern additions. However, our mix of old and new is only the tip of the iceberg as far as unique programming goes. Every camper’s experience is tailored to them personally, with camper’s choice activities and trips. Each week, campers choose their own morning activities, and they select an afternoon activity daily. Between choice activities and daily, optional, hiking trips, no two days, weeks, or sessions are the same.
Monkeytown, USA
One of the most unique summer camp programs we’ve ever heard of is our own Monkeytown, USA. Monkeytown is a town within Quinebarge, with its own currency, Mayor, Bureau of Investigation, and Carnival! Each summer, campers earn Monkeytown Money by achieving goals, trying new things, earning a high score for cabin inspection, and by being a ‘waiter’ at meals. They elect their own mayor, who oversees the Carnival and calls the MBI (Monkeytown Bureau of Investigation) to action when necessary. Campers design and run the carnival themselves, and make booths to sell refreshments or provide games and activities for their peers.
By creating their own society and electing a Mayor, campers feel a true sense of ownership over their experience. And, they may even learn some business- and life skills without realizing it.
Fun and Friendships Guaranteed
When they arrive at camp, most kids worry about one thing: will I have fun? Between our unique programming, choice activities, and special programs throughout each session, we guarantee that every camper will have a ton of fun during their stay. More importantly, they will leave camp with new friendships that will last a lifetime. We train our staff to help campers make friends, and strengthen existing friendship. Not only will your child form new friendships, but those friendships will last for years to come.
